Since the release of the provisional calendar in July, the UIAA has worked hard to add additional top level events to the 2023-24 UIAA Ice Climbing Calendar, and is delighted to confirm the following:
UIAA Ice Climbing World Championships – Edmonton, Canada – 16-18 February 2024
This will be an incredibly exciting city event held in downtown Edmonton, close to the Oilers Ice Hockey stadium, hosted by the Edmonton section of the Alpine Club of Canada. World champions in Lead and Speed will be crowned in this exciting new venue. It represents a return to a big city urban setting following the success, and massive crowds, who came to the event in Denver, Colorado in 2019

UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour
12 – 14 January 2024 – World Cup – Cheongsong, Korea
25 – 27 January 2024 – World Cup – Saas-Fee, Switzerland
16 – 18 February 2024 – World Championships – Edmonton, Canada
UIAA Ice Climbing World Youth Championships – Champagny-en-Vanoise, France – 18–20 January 2024
The iconic ice tower in Champagny-en-Vanoise will once again play host to the World Youth Championships, as it last did in 2017. Young climbers from all over the globe will compete for the coveted titles of World Champion in the various age categories in lead and speed disciplines in what should be an amazing event in the home of winter sport in France.
Also, for three days after the event the competitors will have the chance to train on the structure on all the competition routes and gain some valuable training in for the rest of the season. Full details on logistics and schedule will follow shortly.
UIAA Ice Climbing Youth Continental Series
The UIAA is pleased to announce that for the very first time there will be a Continental Youth Cup Series comprising of five events in addition to the seven-event senior Continental Cup Series. The UIAA looks forward to this great step forward in youth development and will crown Continental Youth Cup overall winners in 2024 at the following events:
2 December 2023 – Continental Open & Youth Open – Brno, Czech Republic
16 December 2023 – Continental Open & Youth Open – Utrecht, Netherlands
18–20 January 2024 – Continental Open & Youth Open – Champagny-en-Vanoise, France
3 February 2024 – Continental Open & Youth Open – Oulu, Finland
10 February 2024 – Continental Open & Youth Open – Sunderland, UK
Continental Series Events (Adults Only)
25 November 2023 – Continental Open – Zilina, Slovakia
20-21 January 2024 – Continental Open – Ouray, United States
UIAA Route Setting and Judging Courses
The UIAA also plans to further develop the sport through by offering two route setting courses and a judging course to train up new aspiring officials and bring them into the ever-expanding UIAA Ice Climbing community.

Judges Course
19–21 January 2024 – Champagny-en-Vanoise, France
These competitions, in addition to the events already published, will create a very exciting calendar for the 2023-24 UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour. The UIAA, and all event organisers, look forward to welcoming athletes, spectators and fans from across the globe to these events.
